Children learn best when involved in hands-on, real life experiences.
The innovative Hatching program was initiated in St. Mary’s Muhaisnah on 7th November, 2018 in collaboration with Al Rawdah poultry.
The life cycle of hens was made real through the student’s participation in this chick hatching program. Children had a chance to learn about the incubation process, embryonic development, practice animal care and handling, develop a greater appreciation and understanding the poultry industry, and learn to perform specific skills as reading the temperature of the incubator.
Year 2 and Year 5 who are studying life cycles got colouring kits, stickers and photo frames from Al Rawdah Poultry as a part of this learning activity.
For many students, this was their first exposure to observe the miracle of life and encourage them to have a positive relationship with other living beings.
All in all, it was a memorable experience to watch the little chicks hatch from their eggs.
Special thanks to Ms. Yasmin Shameer of Al Rawdah poultry for initiating the hatching program.
