The EYFS department of Saint Mary’s Catholic School, Muhaisnah, celebrated the UAE Flag Day on Sunday, the 4th of November 2018. The students showed great enthusiasm and joy in participating in various activities to celebrate the event. One of the highlights of the day was the making of a special UAE Flag, painted by the handprints of the EYFS student and staff members. It represented the unity of this great nation. Throughout the week, each class also took part in art projects based on the colours of the UAE flag and their significance to nurture the feelings of pride, dignity and respect for the UAE and its values and traditions.
The culminating activity was marked by a vibrant assembly wherein the students came dressed in the national colours and celebrated the nation’s rich heritage by singing the National anthem, performing the ‘7 emirates’ song, and also reflecting on the values that the UAE flag and culture represent. Following this, the children enthusiastically participated in a procession around the school, proudly waving the UAE flags that they made.
The young students took pride in honouring this wonderful nation upholding the values of peace, harmony, tolerance and diversity as envisioned by the founding father of the nation, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
