Progress Test Schedule

Posted on: Mon, October 12

Dear Parents,

All students in Year 5 to 10 are required to sit for the externally marked GL assessments that benchmark their performance against their peers nationally. These assessments are the deferred assessment that they should have taken up last June but was postponed due to lockdown.

Arrangements have been made to support those students in full time distance learning. We understand parents concern regarding health safety. Distance learning students will be in a separate location and fully socially distanced from each other. They will be in school only for the time necessary for the assessments. We request that parents ensure that their children come into school for these important assessments.

Students in Years 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 will take these assessments at the following times:

BL /DL BL /DL BL /DL

    Year 8 Not available

All DL students must proceed to the hall upon arrival while BL students must proceed to their usual room assignments.

These assessments will give us a reliable benchmark of how well students have developed their skills and knowledge in English, Mathematics and Science over all their years of education. Performance in these tests reflects not just how well students have listened and worked during lessons but also shows the impact of learning outside lessons through regular reading, mental arithmetic practice and the care with which they have approached their day to day learning.

These types of assessment are intended to be complementary, giving us as full a picture as possible of our students’ learning. Hence, all students must partake to these assessments.

All students will need to bring the following;

A fully charged laptop or tablet

  1. Earphone/Headphone
  2. Charger
  3. Healthy snacks and Drinks
  4. Bring your hand sanitizer.

It also important to follow the school protocols to ensure safety

Should you have any more queries about the assessment, please feel free to contact the school.

Sincerely,

The SMM Management
